Mall Escape: Backrooms Files is a first-person horror game where you are left alone in a darkened shopping mall. Your phone is dead, the exits are locked, and familiar stores have turned into empty halls. You need to find a torch to see, investigate each section and find a means to replenish electricity so you can find your way out.
Mall Escape: Backrooms Files is especially tense because of The Custodian, a patrol that can hear sounds. If you run too much, he’ll come after you. If you hear a whistle, turn your torch off, get to the nearest locker and hide until he is gone. Sometimes it’s more vital to not try to run quickly but just stand still.
You need to find the key, read the staff notes, and interpret the keypad entry boards to unlock the doors. It also takes a series of switches to be turned on to restore power to the mall. You can continue your quest after exiting the mall, following the mystery signal to Westbrook House.
On a computer, WASD moves, mouse observes, E interacts, Shift runs, C or Ctrl crouches, and F toggles the torch. Pause with Esc or P.

- Read the notes carefully to find the door code.

Mall Escape: Backrooms Files is a scary shopping mall game with exploration, riddles and hiding. You can’t just run for your life and hope speed will save you, you have to listen to the sounds, remember the road and know when to hide to escape this place.
